Top 5 most powerful explosive materials in the world

An explosive material is a reactive substance that holds a great amount of potential energy that will produce an explosion whenever it released its energy suddenly. The potential energy stored in an explosive material may include
  1.    Chemical energy such as nitroglycerin, photosynthesis.
  2.    Pressurized gas such as gas cylinder, nitrous oxide.
  3.    Nuclear energy such as Uranium-235,Plutonium-239.

5. Black powder

most powerful explosive materials in the world
Black powder

Black powder is a chemical explosive. It is a composition of various chemical elements such as
sulfur, potassium, charcoal and nitrate. Both the sulfur and charcoal act as a fuel and nitrate is an oxidizer. Black power is also called as Gun powder.
Black power is a low explosive category because it is deflagrate instead of detonate. After discovery of  high explosives the black powder is no longer used in the military warheads, but it is mainly used in the mining operation due to its cost. The synthetic materials are mostly used for controlling the explosions. Black powers are widely used in the propellant in firearms, pyrotechnic composition in fireworks.

4. TNT-Trinitrotoluene

most powerful explosive materials in the world
TNT

TNT is a well-known useful explosive material that handles really well. The explosive powder of the T is considered by the standard measure of strength of bombs.
TNT is most commonly used explosion material in the militarise and industrial purposes. Its also effective in water. It means it doesn't react with water. So it is best for making underground bombing.

3.PENT-Pentaerythritol Tetranitrate

most powerful explosive materials in the world
PENT

PENT is the most powerful non-nuclear explosive material in the world with a relative effectiveness factor of 1.66. It is also called as TEN, corpent, penthrite or nitropent.  PENT is the nitrate ester of pentaerythritol and its structure is similar to nitroglycerin. It was first discovered in the bomb used by the 2001 shoe bomber. During the world war 2 PENT was mostly used in detonators in exploding bridge-wire in the atomic bombs.
PENT is commonly used in the explosives with high explosives with high brisance. It doesn't detonate by the action of dropping or igniting, but it is more
sensitive to shock & friction that TNT. So deflagration to detonation transition is occurring under certain conditions.

2. Uranium-235(U-235)

most powerful explosive materials in the world
Uranium-235 fission

Uranium-235 was first discovered in 1935 by Arthur Jeffrey Dempster. It contains 143 neutrons and 92 protons. The half-life of U-235 is 702,800,000 years. It is a isotope of uranium making up 0.72% of natural uranium. It is the only isotope that is a primordial nuclide. The melting point of Uranium-235 is 1132 degree Celsius.

The atomic bomb dropped in the Hiroshima on August 6, 1945 was made of highly enriched uranium with larger tamper. The name of this bomb is little boy.
Uranium-235 was apparently formed in supplementary about 6.6 bllion years ago. It is not a common material in the solar system.

1. Plutonium-239(Pu-239)

most powerful explosive materials in the world
Plutonium-239 fission

Plutonium-239 is the primary fissile isotope used in the nuclear weapons and nuclear power plants. Pu-239 is most powerful explosive material in the world because of its higher probability of fission than U-235 and the higher number of neutrons produced per fission event. It has the half-life of 24,100 years. Plutonium-239 conditions 145 neutrons and 94 protons.
The Pu-239 is not a natural nuclear material. It is made from Uranium-238. Pu-239 is usually created in the nuclear reactors by transmutation of individual atoms of one of the isotopes in the Uranium-238 present in the fuel rods. The nuclear bomb dropped in the Nagasaki, Japan in 1945 contains higher amount Plutonium-239.

Plutonium is a silvery-grey metal that changes its colour to yellowish whenever exposed to air. Plutonium-239 emits an alpha particles and becomes Uranium-235 when it goes under
radioactive reaction. It causes health problems to lives. Ah external exposure of plutonium causes very little health risk, but an internal exposure causes extremely serious health problems(ex.Risk of cancer).

Tsar Bomb:

Tsar bomb is the most powerful human made explosive in history. It was developed by soviet union and tested on October 30, 1961 in the Novaya zemlya archipelago at Sukhoy Nos.
This Tsar bomb is the hydrogen bomb with a yield of 50-58 megatons of TNT. It is more than 3000 times powerful than the bomb dropped on Hiroshima. Its shock wave broke windows up-to 560 miles away.
The weight of this mega bomb is 60,000 pounds, measured 26 feet long and 7 feet in diameter.

  1. Pentaerythritol (PENT) prices kept rising during this quarter, bolstered by improved demand from the downstream sector across the region during Q2 2021. Prices of PENT rose from USD 1854/MT to USD 2050/MT, on the back of surging feedstock prices and firm offtakes. Prices of several feedstock chemicals kept increasing which increased the demand for polyols. Thus, due the wide range of applications of the product PENT, demand remained firm during this timeframe across North America, which supported this price hike.
